Welcome to Our Highland Herd: A Journey of Growth and Love
At Laree Ranch, we didn't receive any of our cattle as calves, but it has been an absolute pleasure watching them grow into mature adult cattle. Each of our Highland cows hold a special place in our hearts, and we are thrilled to introduce you to our beloved herd.
Meet Fluffy: Our First Highland
Fluffy was the very first addition to our ranch and sparked our mini Highland addiction! Though Fluffy was supposed to be a miniature, he currently stands at the height of a micro. This calm little steer has become the mascot of our ranch. His gentle nature and fluffy red coat make him an endearing presence, and he continues to bring joy to our daily lives.
JellyBean: Our Sweet Snuggler
JellyBean, our chondro-positive white micro Highland heifer, is as sweet as her name suggests. She absolutely loves snuggle and feed time, and we know she'll make beautiful calves in the future. Her affectionate personality and love for attention make her a favorite among friends and family alike.
Summer: Our Skittish Beauty
Summer is a gorgeous Dun Highland who is maturing into a size somewhere between mini and mid-size. Watching her grow has been incredibly rewarding. Although she is very skittish, we've been making significant progress in earning her trust. Every small step forward with Summer is a testament to patience and love, and we can’t wait to see her flourish fully.
Guthrie: Our White Cutie
Guthrie, with her pretty white color and the cutest pink nose, is a mid-size Highland who has formed a close bond with Summer. Both of them are working through their fears of people but are showing incredible bravery and progress. Guthrie’s journey from a timid heifer to a confident cow is one we are proud to be part of, and we eagerly await the day she becomes a mama.
Mr. Dinkles: Our Tiny Bull
Mr. Dinkles, our first and only bull at the moment, is a charming dun-colored Highland who is becoming very sweet. At nearly two years old, he remains tiny for his age, but we are excited to see what size he will end up. Mr. Dinkles promises to sire beautiful calves in the future, adding more wonderful members to our herd.
Our Growing Herd
These adorable Highlands are the foundation of our herd. They came to us as teens or adults, and we've cherished every moment of getting to know them and watching them grow. We are working with the International Miniature Cattle Breeders Registry (IMCBR) to get them DNA tested and registered. This process will help us continue to expand our knowledge of our herd and their offspring, ultimately allowing us to serve our cattle and our customers better.
