Eggs go into the incubator and the clock starts. They turn several times a day, every day, until lockdown.
Day eighteen. Turning stops, humidity comes up, and the incubator stays shut so the chicks can position themselves to pip.
Day twenty one, though silkies will sometimes start a day early. Chicks stay in the incubator until they are dry, then move to the brooder.

This one did not go the way we hoped. An incubator failure late in the run cost us nine chicks in the shell, and four of the six that made it needed help getting out. The six are up and thriving in the brooder now. We post the hard hatches the same as the good ones, because that is what the real numbers look like.
Both Hen’s Choice batches are open for reservations on day-old chicks. Hen’s Choice means I pick from whatever hatches that day, so you are reserving a spot rather than a specific color.
Reservations cover the Hen’s Choice batches above. Anything else we hatch goes up in the shop once it is out of the brooder.
